Numskull CosCups Review – Star Trek Q

So – right off the bat… I was sent this item by Numskull for free to take a look at, but this is 100% my personal view on this product.

To give you a little background on how I feel about this product, let me first tell you that when I first saw it get developed (I think I remember it being the GhostBusters line) I really wasn’t too impressed or interested in, which is why you’ve not regularly seen them pop up in my news sections. I too was actually surprised to see how many different lines there are now!

The main reason I didn’t like them was because to me they looked like a less interesting version of the Geeki Tiki cups which are already available.

I’ve got a Geeki Tiki cup and again I don’t overly like it. Those cups are lightweight which makes them easy and pleasant to walk around with but its a fancy cup! Q fancy cup is used for entertaining or making your favourite special beverage in. When you’re using a cup for those reasons, you don’t want a lightweight plastic cup that feels like you picked it up for refills at Disney Land. Imagine if the CosCup came and it looked like a plain version of Geeki Tiki and felt just as lightweight, and dare I say it, a bit cheap.

However that’s where I’m glad that they did send it to me, because it feels VERY different to my night king cup. And yes I do know that Geeki Tiki also offer ceramic but I’ve never had one so all I can do is compare to their plastic ones. This CosCup is a ceramic cup and it is thick ceramic at that! When you pick it up it feels like nice heavy weight quality and the thickness also makes it very pleasant indeed to drink from. It’s perfect for serving up fancy drinks or sharing a beverage with your friends.

What makes it feel even better in the hand is the silicone sleeve on the bottom. Again it just makes it feel like a high end product to justify the price, which at around the £15 – £20 mark depending on where you shop, actually is very completive. Remember that this isn’t likely going to be an every day cup so expect it to cost more than your favourite witty remark mug you keep in you work kitchen.

The silicone sleeve equally worries me a little because it is fitted on to the cup rather than being sealed on but is also on there VERY tight so it’s going to get water get in there when you wash it. I didn’t try to get it off when I washed my cup but it just feels like an area that might get some grime build up that’s going to be difficult to clean if you do use these regularly.

But that really is my only possible criticism of this cup. They look amazing while the low profile of the designs feels nice to hold, looks and feels high quality and doesn’t make you feel like you’re trying to drink from Krysten’s upturned head.

Go check them out, especially at this time of year they genuinely make a great christmas gift and there’s something for everyone. At the moment some of the lines include:

  • Music (Ozzy and Lemmy might actually be my favourite cups in the whole line)
  • Transformers
  • Star Trek
  • Rocky
  • Universal Monsters
  • Jurassic Park
  • Master of the Universe
  • Stranger Things
  • Back to the Future
  • Ghostbusters
  • Hatsune Miku
  • Halo
