These are a funny show which you can find on Disney+ as well as the Disney YouTube channel (which is where it was first released back in 2017) with 2 seasons as it stands, each with 16 episodes… But don’t be fooled in to sitting down and binge watching these over a few days! Each one is about 2 minutes long and almost half of that is usually the credits. I have to admit that if it wasn’t for the fact that they’re literally almost all credits then I would have given these an extra 0.5 to 1 star.
I started to watch these just as a way to try and get my two and a half year old son in to Star Wars and he sits there watching these with his Hasbro PlaySkool StormTrooper which is just beyond cute… I think last time he might actually have been wearing a Yoda t-shirt… Covering all the bases!
If you have little ones and you want to introduce them to Star Wars, these really are an awesome starting point. They pick up and run with little stories and side stories from Phantom Menace right through to Force Awakens. We see a lot of focus on Rey, Ahsoka, Jyn, Leia, Padme, Anakin and much more. Even Porgs, Ewoks and Chewie make a few appearances.
I’ve not really delved much in to the animated Star Wars universe at this point but know that a few voices (such as Anakin Skywalker and Padme) are voiced by the people who voice them in the animated films which is cool to see. However what I liked even more is that some of the iconic characters like Rey, Jyn, C-3PO, Finn and yes even Luke Skywalker were voiced by the actors who played them in the films. That really turned this in to something which could have felt like the old flash movies you used to watch on your school computer in class, and turned them in to a proper Star Wars addition.
Don’t get me wrong, the stories they tell aren’t going to change the meaning of any of the actions which the heroes of this franchise make during its history and we’re not really going to learn anything we didn’t already know, but they certainly do add that extra little bit of depth to the character history and allow us to have a bit of fun with the franchise along the way.
I don’t think there’s really anything else to say about these because they really are that short that other than spreading some join they don’t have that much more impact. But I would genuinely suggest that you check these out if you want to have some fun, have some time to kill, like the animated side of Star Wars or want to introduce your own little padawan to the franchise!
It worked for me… Little Ripley has fallen in love with Chewie and the ewoks!
