The Complete Funko Fair 2021 Round Up

Funko Fair 2021 has come to an end and it’s been a couple of weeks (the 9 days turned in to 11 thanks to the weekend) with a lot of announcements, although I have to say that some have been a little controversial and a lot of people described certain days (especially the Marvel day) as disappointments. The biggest problem was that for a lot of people they were deemed as mainly being IKYMI (which I only recently learned stands for in Case You Missed It) re-caps rather than new announcements which is what we all of course wanted to see!

But have a look through the announcements which I have summarized below and see what you think – did Funko deliver with their Funko Fair or was it a big flop? I think that it was a great idea and a nice way to bring some fun announcements to people during this tough time, and for us here in the UK, a lot of those announcements are pretty easy to miss so for me a lot of these were new announcements.

One thing which didn’t make sense to me was that some announcements just came on the wrong days so I’m breaking it down in to categories like pops, pins, blind packs etc. rather than the days which Funko used.

Funko Fair 2021 Pop Announcements

The vast majority of announcements during this event were understandably pop related with a number of new standard pops, jumbo pops, rides, moments and everything else in between… over a lot of franchises, so strap in for the longest leg of this post! Funko Fair 2021 Pocket Pop Key Chain Announcements

Over the years I’d avoided these but in the last few months I’ve actually been finding that they’re making more of these and that they seem to be getting a bit better at making them too so I’m glad to see some new additions to the range. They kicked it off right away on Star Wars day with 10 Star Wars original trilogy ones and 7 Mandalorian ones, with these all being a first for this franchise.

The new Tokidoki range of pops was joined by the same moulds but much smaller for their pocket pop counterparts, so that makes Donutella, Mozzerella, Stellina and SANDy. On the same day they also announced a Sasuke and Kurama from Naruto.

Umbrella Academy got a really big announcement including 9 new pops but also some new pocket pops of Number Five, Klaus and Pogo. Also part of a big announcement were various minions in pocket pop form.

Funko Fair 2021 Blind Pack Announcements

I’m not going to run through each Mystery Mini figure announcement these can be found in previous nerd news from the event however it was definitely a good event for people who love Mystery Minis and they were announced over a nice variety or franchises! We’re going to be getting new mystery mini waves for:

  • Star Wars: The Mandalorian
  • Lilo & Stitch
  • Deadpool
  • Minions: The Rise of Gru

I thought they might bring out a new Paka Paka range or two as well, but the only news from that camp can be found below in the plush and clothing sections.

Funko Fair 2021 Game Announcements

I thought that there would be more game announcements to be honest as I know that Funko seem to really be getting in to their card and board games these days but that wasn’t the case in the end. If you’re familiar with the Marvel battle world game which they have it’s a hybrid game and collectibles product. This is a new Loki mega pack which contains six collectible heroes: Four starting heroes (including the NEW Loki-Frost Giant) trapped in Thanostones!”… What ever that might mean!

Funko Fair 2021 Toy Announcements

Not much at all in the toys section this time, just the new spring colorway selection of the Five Nights at Freddys action figures which I know a lot of people already knew about before the event, so that wasn’t much of a news piece! it does include a nice Walmart exclusive though.

Funko Fair 2021 Soda Announcements

I’m surprised that we didn’t get more soda announcements to be honest. It’s their newest proper collectibles range so I did think we would get atleast a few anniuncments but all we got in the end were:

  • Rocky & Bullwinkle’s Fearless Leader (x 7,500)
  • Ghost Busters’ Egon Spengler (x 10,000)
  • Quisp (x 10,000)
  • Rosie from the Jetsons (x 10,000)
  • Beetlejuice (x 15,000)
  • My Hero Academia’s All Might (x 20,000)
  • Werewolf from Scooby Doo (x 7,500)

I know 7 isn’t a terrible number but with the ton of pop announcements we had I think a little more variety across their product ranges might have been nice.

Funko Fair 2021 Clothes, Accessories & Loungefly Announcements

Let’s start with the Marvel day Pop Sockets, and pretty much leave it again right there… I’ll put a photo below, but seriously, who signed off on this over priced rubbish? What they’ve done is taken the amazing Marvel black light range and ruined it.

They did redeem themselves in the accessories game though – although let’s be honest, these things aren’t accessories. Surely the 4″ pop pins which Funko make aren’t seriously designed to be warn in any way. They weigh so much and are huge… But some times they do look very cool like the chase version of Aang from the Avatar: The Last Airbender range which also included Sokka, Appa and Katara. Then there’s also the pins from Who Framed Roger Rabbit which are made up of Roger Rabbit, Smarty Weesel, Judge Doom and of course Jessica Rabbit who also comes with a really nice all red and gold glitter chase. Finally we were treated to a whole set of Star Wars pop pins, and these are nice including a common and chase Jabba the Hutt, Han Solo in Carbonite which is amazing, Boushh Leia and Lando Calrissian.

There are a few other pins which are floating around after these announcements but always as some part of another pack, such as the really nice Luke Skywalker Pop and Pin set, where the pin is a smaller round enamel one rather than the big pop pin. There’s a 4 pack of enamel pins from the WWE franchise which are all based on wrestler logos (the Rock, Mankind, Roddy Piper and Steve Austin. Finally some pins also make their way in to the Transformers and G. I. Joe mystery boxes.

Right at the start of the fair we got a look at what actually, considering they were based around the cute Kawaii Village, Soup Troop and Munchies Paka Paka ranges, look really cool. The only other t-shirt was a pop and tee combo from Alice in Wonderland featuring the white rabbit… But again (as is the case with most Funko shirts) it came out looking really nice:

I don’t usually cover the Loungefly releases because I know very little about fashion and accessories, they’re usually marketed at women and to be quite honest I always though that they look WAY over priced.

Day 2 was originally Anime day but then when the day came the title had been changed to Anime & Loungefly day, but funnily enough that particular day had no Lougefly announcements, at least not on the official Funko page. So below I will put up some pictures of all the Loungefly releases which they did show on other days!

Funko Fair 2021 Statue Announcements

This one actually somehow passed me by during the Nerd News posts while the event was going on… I might have missed it after going to bed due to the time difference.

Five Nights at Freddy’s already has a couple of these statues which are far more old school and designed to be shown off out of the box. There are another 2 of these being added from the Security Breach range. Firstly we have Freddy and Gregory, and then we also have Vanny and Vanessa. These are 12 inch statues and I think they’d actually look awesome amongst an action figures or anime statue collection.

Funko Fair 2021 Plush Announcements

There were just a few plush announcements and I think the first one, and I think it was actually what kicked off the whole Funko Fair or closed the first day (one or the other) was a ridiculous set of gamer food plushies… These things look rubbish and they weren’t very well received on social media. Funko did redeem themselves a little in my eyes with a set of 6 plushies from the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise… that cupcake is just adorable! Finally they have also turned the Paka Paka Soda Kittens range in to a range of 5 plushies.

Funko Fair 2021 Pop Albums Announcements

There were only 2 new pop albums announced during this event and they are both rock albums. The first is Ace of Spades by Motorhead and the second is Highway to Hell by AC/DC.

Funko Fair 2021 Pop Comic Covers Announcement

Well I didn’t see this coming, but I think it’s going to be an absolutely massive hit moving forward, and personally I think for the Funko community in general its a move which makes sense… probably more so than the record covers line. And what better way to kick it off than with Action Comics No. 1 – Superman!
