Nerd News: New from Lego – Botanical Builds

There’s no doubting that Lego isn’t just a toy for little kids… I still get a Lego model every year for Christmas from my wife and I’m 36 and I know plenty of other guys around my age who love to partake in a little Lego building. Lego know this as well of course, so there are a number of models which are aimed more at the adult market, but I think that has never been more obvious than this new incredible looking range!

Lego have been looking in to a lot of aspects of modern life and they know that adults are looking for new ways to wind down and destress their lives, with a huge majority of us admitting that playing helps us do just that! So this new botanical collection has actually been aimed specifically at those adults who want to bring a combination of play, decoration, creativity and a pseudo sense of nature in to their lives and homes.

There’s a full bouquet of flowers as well as a bonsai tree available in the range.

The flower lego bouquet

This set has customisable flowers allowing people to experiment with a variety of shapes and colours to suit their mood throughout the year. The set is made up of a massive 756 pieces with even the stems being customisable. The set allows you to make a variety of snapdragons, roses, poppies, asters, daisies, and different grasses.

The LEGO Flower Bouquet can be designed to be over 14 inches (36cm) high, with a recommended retail price of $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99. Also available to compliment this set or as a nice little gift for a loved one are individual roses and tulips which will be exclusive to and Lego store locations with recommended retail prices of 12.99 / €12.99 / £9.99 for LEGO Roses and $9.99 / €9.99 / £7.99 for the LEGO Tulips.

Lego bonsai tree

This 878 piece set is already proving to be a big hit for Lego and in contrast to the bouquet also includes the pieces to make the pot / tray which the tree sits on, so it’s an even more involved model, hence the higher piece count. A nice touch with this one is that again depending on the time of year or your mood you can change it up to keep you occupied – going from a classic green canopy to a cherry blossom style pink version.

The LEGO Bonsai Tree stands at 7 inches (18cm) high and has a recommended retail price of $49.99 / €49.99 / £44.99.
