57 Times Actors Appeared in Music Videos

Buy Me a Coffee at ko-fi.com

Originally I had each video listed below with an embedded YouTube player but I felt like it was getting a bit out of hand (it started out as a list of 20 videos!) and I think I’m probably going to be adding to this in due time rather than making a second one should I ever feel the need. Just to be clear as well that (unless I missed something) the videos have to have the actor in the video as an actual feature shot specifically for the music video. I won’t be listing bits where the actors are in scenes from films which have just been cut in to the music video, nor will I be listing actors who have made their own songs (so there will be no Will Smith or 30 Seconds From Mars songs for example unless they happen to have other actors in the videos).

You can find all of the videos in the embedded play list below and then some little explanations in order below.

1 – Danny Trejo in “Money” by Broiler ft. Bekuh Boom

Danny Trejo plays… well, what Danny Trejo always plays. A pissed off looking Mexican. He comes in to a factory where they make robots on demand and of course he wants one with a bit of attitude to compliment the looks he’s getting from a poster… Things don’t quite go to plan and he burns through his money in no time!

2 – Forrest Whitaker in “In the Dark” by Bring me the Horizon

This is a bit of a weird video which I’ve never really understood completely, but then again I just might not be concentrating quite enough! Forrest Whitaker is in a chair with some electrodes on his head, looking sad as hell and singing the lyrics.

3 – Pat Morita in “Movies” by Alien Ant Farm

He basically plays Mr Miyagi… Let’s be real, he does play Mr Miyagi as the band parody a few different film roles on the big screen… As with anything by AAF, it’s just a nice bit of fun!

4 – Benjamin Joseph in “Say my Name” by Peking Duk

Peking Duk are renowned for their fun songs and awesome videos to go along with this and this is no exception… With Benjamin Joseph fitting in perfectly… He’s funny as hell, and even dressed like an absolute dork from the 80’s he oozes confidence all over your screen. Love this video and he absolutely makes it!

5 – Johnny Depp in “Kill4Me” by Marilyn Manson

This is the first of 2 entries where Manson pairs up with Depp in one of his videos, and it’s really not unusual for him to bring friends and partners in to his videos – why not? This video features Depp getting all sorts of sexy, so it’s one for the ladies!

6 – Christopher Walken in “weapon of Choice” by Fatboy Slim

I don’t know why it had to be Christopher Walken or why / how it somehow ended up being him, but it is him and it is just weird with him dancing and floating around some building.

7 – Evan Rachel Wood in “Heart Shaped Glasses” by Marilyn Manson

We’ve already had him bring a friend in to a video where his friend got sexy, and now is the first of Manson’s videos with one of his ex-girlfriends, where they’re getting sexy. It makes sense for her to be in the video because the song, to my knowledge, was originally written for or about her.

8 – Dave Sheridan in “By the Way” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

In this video Dave Sheridan plays the part of an obsessed Red Hot Chili Peppers fan who happens to be the taxi driver for Anthony. Things soon get interesting!

9 – Nazeem Hussain in “Let you Down” by Peking Duk

This is a weird video where Nazeem Hussain just doesn’t seem to see the signs of his partner not wanting to commit… and those signs are pretty damn extreme.

10 – Johnny Depp & Kristin VanOvan in “Say10” by Marilyn Manson

Anyone else starting to think that Manson just enjoys seeing Johnny Depp get his freak on?

11 – Rupert Grint in “Lego House” by Ed Sheeran

Rupert Grint plays the part of Ed Sheeran in one of his break out songs and one of his most successful early videos… it actually had a lot of people thinking that Rupert was Ed! I mean they don’t look that similar but similar enough to make people think, “hang on isn’t that the guy from Harry Potter… Was Ed Sheeran in Harry Potter?”

12 – Rose McGowan in “Coma White” by Marilyn Manson

He’s back at it with another girlfriend at the time (I believe they may even have been engaged) appearing in this video as Jackie Kennedy, and being a good actress any way she does a damn good job in this video!

13 – Ben Stiller in “Bad Boys for Life” by P. Diddy

Alongside a few rock musicians Ben Stiller appears in this video as a neighbor of P Diddy after he moves in to the neighborhood… He confronts P Diddy after getting a golf ball through the window, trying to be cool and ending up as awkward as you’d expect from him!

14 – Alexander Skarsgård in “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga

He joins the video is Lady Gaga’s love interest but as you might expect from a Gaga song, things aren’t quite as simple as that and things don’t necessarily end that well for him.

15 – Shia LaBeouf in “Fjögur píanó” by Sigur Rós

With Shia LaBeouf and Sigur Ros collaborating you know that this video is going to be nothing short of weird… And weird is exactly what they deliver. I’m not even going to try and explain how he gets involved in this video – enjoy…?

16 – Ben Stiller & Stephen Dorf in “Rollin” by Limp Bizkit

They really don’t do much in the video. They literally roll up in a car and throw the keys to Fred Durst thinking he’s the valet.

17 – Donald Faison, Tony Hale & Joel David Moore in “Beat it” by Fall Out Boy

The three guys just play a variety of Michael Jackson related parts in the video, which as you’d expect from Fall Out Boy is just a load of fun and really tips a hat to the spirit of the band in their earlier days in particular. This is one of my favorite videos by the band.

18 – Megan Fox in “Bloody Valentine” by Machine Gun Kelly

In this video Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly are just having a good time, with her keeping him captive. There’s a nice chemistry especially on her behalf, because they are a real life couple. There were a lot of comments about her having her bare foot on his face on the floor – being quite disrespectful but MGK quite liked it – it seems a lot of people didn’t know that he has quite the foot fetish and thinks that Fox has the most perfect feet!

19 – Slim Khezri, Claudia Cooper, Evie Nicholson & Tyga in “I Don’t Care” by Fall Out Boy

This is a strange video – a really over the top glimpse in to all areas of rock star life I guess, and a few famous faces just keep popping up all over the video.

20 – Peter Stormare in “Steh Auf” by Lindemann

This video is dominated by a seeming struggle for the attention of the limelight between Peter Stormare and Lindemann frontman Till Lindemann.

21 – Dan Fogler in “I Don’t Wanna Be Me” by Type O Negative

He absolutely makes this video – it wouldn’t be anywhere near as good without him. We see him prance around trying to be anything other than an average business man by dressing as Marilyn Monroe, Britney Spears, Eminem, Michael Jackson, Robert DeNiro, Elton John, but strangely enough not Pete Steele!

22 – Sheri Moon Zombie in “Well Everybody’s Fucking in a UFO” by Rob Zombie

This is the first video in this list, but actually the latest made by Rob Zombie where he uses his wife in the music video… She’s also a common feature in his movies. She doesn’t do much other acting work though which I always find a bit strange because she’s not a bad actress.

23 – Caroline O’Hara in “Genghis Khan” by Miike Snow

It’s only a very short part as the wife of the villain in the video… Super villains need to have a home life too! She’s not overly well known but probably the most well known in the video which also features Adam Jones and Edward Hayes-Neary as the hero and villain.

24 – Sheri Moon Zombie in “Dead City Radio And The New Gods Of Supertown” by Rob Zombie

Rob Zombie is back at it with one of this best videos, shot in black and white – feeling as surreal as his movies. In this video, his wife is just a dancer who also rides a rocking horse!

25 – Jack Kilmer & Jessica Barden in “Under the Graveyard” by Ozzy Osbourne

The two play young versions of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne in a very raw and emotional video… One of the most powerful sets of performances in this list!

26 – Peter Stormare in “Frau & Mann” by Lindemann

He plays one of 2 cosmonauts stuck in space on the space station while his colleague is recalled back to earth.

27 – Robert Downey Jr. in “I Want Love” by Elton John

I don’t know why it had to by RDJ but that’s who is in this video, and he’s really just wandering around a house singing the song.

28 – Sid Haig & Sheri Moon Zombie in “Feel so Numb” by Rob Zombie

Sheri Moon Zombie plays her usual sexy lady dancing in this video which is a common feature in Rob Zombie videos, but in this one she is joined by Sid Haig as a creepy pirate… As you do!

29 – Megan Fox, Dominic Monaghan & David Golshan in “Love the way you Lie” by Eminem ft. Rihanna

Golshan just has a short part as a bartender but Monaghan and Fox are a young couple with Monaghan playing the part of a young Eminem while Fox is Kim, and its not a pleasant video to watch – it’s very raw and hat’s off to both of them for playing their parts incredibly well!

30 – Sheri Moon Zombie in “Living Dead Girl” by Rob Zombie

This is a pretty cool video shot in a very retro horror style, with Sheri Moon Zombie playing the part of the living dead girl… a part which she plays very well.

31 – Ben Affleck in “Jenny from the Block” By Jennifer Lopez

I’m not a big fan of Ben Affleck and having him in a song I don’t enjoy doesn’t do anything to change that for me. In this video he’s just being him in his relationship at the time with Jennifer Lopez, just that it is exaggerated a little just like the media seemed to do to them at that time too.

32 – Sheri Moon Zombie “Superbeast” by Rob Zombie

This is the final video of Sheri Moon Zombie in this list but was the first time she appeared in a Rob Zombie video, and to be honest it wouldn’t affect the video greatly if she wasn’t in it… She’s just sort of there like a sexy retro space vixen!

33 – Danny Devito in “Steal my Girl” by One Direction

DeVito is actually just about the only good thing about this video, and he shows that he’s still got it as a kick ass actor. Although I must say that personally I always hate music videos where they use chimpanzees so I didn’t enjoy the video… That’s besides the fact that I can’t stand One Direction!

34 – Idris Elba in “Lover of the Light” by Mumford and Sons

This is quite a sad video where Idris is a blind man struggling in life, possibly with a recent death and you see him go from various glamour shots to a frantic run through the countryside.

35 – Amanda Rea & Michael Kenneth Williams in “The Mephestopheles of Los Angeles” by Marilyn Manson

Amanda Rea plays the part of what seems to be a disciple perhaps, and what turns in to his main interest in the video, while Williams offers an opening monologue which really adds a lot to the video, far beyond the song itself… Love that part of the video!

36 – Steve Oram in “True Friends” by Bring Me The Horizon

This is a video which grows from being a man who is harassed, who then turns out that he potentially beats his daughter and for a little while it even seems like he might have done even more, but is it all just a big trap?

37 – Idris Elba in “Dance Off” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewsi Ft. Idris Elba

He kinda had to be in this video because he “sings” on the chorus so i get it… what I don’t get is the ridiculous coat he’s wearing!

38 – Courtney Cox in “Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen

I’m not sure if there’s an actual reason why she’s in this video or if Springsteen just wanted to have her standing in the audience at one of his shows (moving the least out of the whole audience I must add) and then getting her on stage.

39 – Macaulay Culkin, C. Thomas Howell, Jeffrey Anderson-Gunter, Nancy Cartwright, Dan Castellaneta, Glen Chin, Khrystyne Haje, Tess Harper & George Wendt in “Black or White” by Michael Jackson

Macaulay Culkin has the most prominent place within the cast as the defiant kid listening to Michael Jackson’s music, however throughout the rest of the cast make different appearances, including at the end where their faces morph from one to another – However this video has a couple of versions and the full cast appears just in the 11 minute long version.

40 – Kathy Griffin, David Basila & Jeanette Papineau in “The Real Slim Shady” by Eminem

This is a slapstick comedy, comic book parody type video with a lot going on, so it’s not surprising that there are a few actors faces thrown in for good measure. The most notable of course is Kathy Griffin as a nurse in the asylum.

41 – Jaime Monroy, Roberta Flack, Horace Bailey, Jaime Perry, Alberto Alejandrino, Paul Calderon, Gregory Holtz Sr., Adam Nathan & Wesley Snipes in “Bad” by Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson is no stranger to rediculously long music videos and the video for Bad might just be the biggest example at over 18 minutes long! It sees the various cast members as gang members in New York.

42 – Mila Kunis in “Jaded” by Aerosmith

This is a weird video, it’s hard to describe… There’s period drama style costumes, enchanted forests, fire, elephants, lambs in bed, circus perfomances, women with snakes and Mila Kunis in the middle!

43 – John Malkovich & Hugh Laurie in “Walking on Broken Glass” by Annie Lennox

This is a weird video where Hugh Laurie is Prince George and Annie Lennox is either some other royal or a member of his court who ends up with John Malkovich via some kind of resistance from one or the other.

44 – Roman Artiste, Iman, Magic Johnson & Eddie Murphy in “Remember the Time” by Michael Jackson

It seems that there was a time when Michael Jackson could request who and what ever he wanted including dressing these actors, including Eddie Murphy! in Egyptian costumes and having them parading around doing some stereotypical dancing.

45 – Mischa Barton in “Addicted” by Enrique Iglesias

I must say that to this point, this is possibly the worst song on the list… Man is it boring! But anyway Mischa is Enrique’s girlfriend in this video where he goes to prison… or does he?

46 – Jeremy Renner in “Trouble” by Pink

It’s no wonder he’s the worst Avenger… He plays a terrible sheriff in this video and look out for his “sexy” face while he is trying to get it on with Pink – its disturbing to say the least!

47 – Scarlett Johansson in “What Goes Around…Comes Around” by Justin Timberlake

Look at that, as if by magic we go from the worst Avenger to the second worst Avenger! Johannson is a great actress and no doubt she is a beautiful woman which is why she made it in to this video (the Black Widow character just isn’t that great is it)… Only to be abused and run off the road by Timberlake… Lovely.

48 – Ray Wise in “Wishes” by Beach House

What? Really, what did I just watch. Ray Wise just choreographed the world’s weirdest cheer leading routine…. Ever!

49 – Will Arnett, Jack Black, Orlando Bloom, Steve Buscemi, Dave Cross, Ted Danson, Kirsten Dunst, Will Ferrel, Adam Horovitz, Rashida Jones, Danny McBride, Amy Poehler, John C. Reilly, Seth Rogen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Chloe Sevigny, Mary Steenburgen, Rainn Wilson, Elijah Wood & Adam Yauch in “Make Some Noise” by the Beastie Boys

I’m not even going to try and dive in to the whole thing, but we start off with Seth Rogen, Danny McBride and Elijah Wood playing the parts of Mike D, MCA and Ad-Rock (aka the Beastie Boys), and then everyone else just kinda appears in the streets of New York. I’d say this has to be the most star studded video on the list, and that’s including all the Michael Jackson ones.

50 – James Van Der Beek in “Blow” by Ke$ha

In a pretty weird music video where Kesha looks a lot like Britney Spears Van Der Beek ends up turning up to look handsome and then shoot a bunch of unicorns with Kesha before turning up mounted on the wall with even more unicorns and Kesha laughing about it… Apparently shot unicorns have rainbows explode out of them, did you know that?

51 – Iris Karina, Arthur J. Gonzales, Gabriel Guillen, Carolyn Meyer, Patrick Muldoon & Meredith Thomas in “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John

Now I have to stress that this isn’t the original video but it is an official video made in a collaboration between Elton John and YouTube in a project called the cut where film makers were invited to make their contribution to 3 of his songs. This video shows different people’s perspectives of Los Angeles. Interestingly the video also features Marilyn Manson in an acting part.

52 – Eliza Dushku, Chuck Liddell & Robert John Burck (aka the Naked Cowboy) in “Rockstar” by Nickelback

This video is chock full of famous and obscure faces singing the song for Nickelback, and these actors feature alongside professional hockey players, rock stars, playboy bunnies and just ordinary people.

53 – Halle Berry in “Behind Blue Eyes” by Limp Bizkit

This video was shot as a soundtrack video for Gothika with some re-shoots and extra scenes which put Fred Durst in to the movie and have Halle Berry sing some of the lines.

54 – Jared Leto in “Purple Lamorghini” by Skrillex & Rick Ross

This song was recorded for Suicide Squad and the video filmed to go along with it so Jared Leto appears as the Joker, but the scenes were specially shot for the video rather than having been lifted from the film, as he hangs out with Rick Ross and Skrillex… Or should I say, they’re hanging out with him.

55 – Simu Liu, Sebastian Deery, Jon Ambrose, Corgand Janeway-Svendsen & Paul Ebejer in “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy

They join a wider cast of uncredited extras to fill in some of the gaps between the band in the gladiatorial arena, including the virgin Mary apparently!

56 – Linda Porter, JR Reed & Ben Stiller in “Tribute” by Tenacious D

JR Reed and Ben Stiller don’t have huge parts, in fact Ben Stiller basically just walks past and gets briefly touched by Jack Black. Linda Porter on the other hand plays a great wicked little old lady demon at the end.

57 – Danny Trejo, Tony Moran, Vernon Wells, Derek Mears, Tyler Mane, James Logan, Joe Knetter, Beach Eastwood, Jared Degado, Paul Chomicki, Marv Blauvelt, Christian Ascencio, Sean Whalen, Jason Trostm Micaal Stevens, Jed Rowen and Nick Principle in “Repentless” by Slayer

With a cast like that, and of course knowing that the song is by Slayer, you know this video is going to kick you square in the face! And it does, with an all out, insanely violent prison riot where inmates and police officers are stabbed, beaten, cut and yep even decapitated!
