Nerd News: Amidst COVID-19 Crisis Disney Announces new Movie Release Dates including Black Widow & Other Marvel Films

It is absolutely understandable that film releases are being postponed at this time where people are forced in to isolation and quarantine amongst concerns about the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak. Some studios have even had to halt production of films still being shot to keep the crews safe. Disney is one of the big studios which has now given us a glimpse of their new planned releases.

David Harbour from Black Widow has hinted that he would like to see the film released as a streaming release while people simply cannot go to the cinema, however that is looking increasingly unlikely as the new release date has now been slated as 6th November, instead of the original 29th May date. However as a result of this, some other Marvel movies due for imminent release have had their dates changed, including:

  • Eternals – 12th February 2021
  • Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – 7th May 2021
  • Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – 5th November 2021
  • Thor: Love and Thunder – 18th February 2022
  • Black Panther 2 – 6th May 2022
  • Captain Marvel 2 – 8th July 2022
  • Indiana Jones (as yet untitled) – 29th July 2022, although that seems awfully close to the Capetian Marvel release, so I’m not so certain about this date

So don’t worry, once this is all over, there is going to be plenty of superhero goodness on it’s way to a big screen near you! Going to the cinema is going to feel amazing right?

In other news from Disney, their live action remake of Mulan has also been moved back to a 24th July 2021 release date.

Whilst I agree with David Harbour that a few streaming cinema releases would be a very cool idea, I must say that the Disney streaming service is certainly getting more and more attention anyway and people do at least have the family adventure Artemis Fowl to look forward to on Disney+
